Hanging notes in Ableton 7

I've noticed a couple of issues in ableton.

    1. Notes have a tendency to hang if the track is started from a different position without stopping.
Massive used to have the same problem in ableton 7 but it is fixed now.

    2. If you use several instances (maybe 6-10) and you try to add more circle instances ableton gives a message saying that circle is not compatible with ableton. This is with the cpu usage of 25%.

    Amazing synth btw!

  2. Hi Hookbox,

I have added both to our bug database.

    Glad you like Circle!

I'm actually having a worse problem where ableton live 7.010 actually hangs for about five minutes when I try to load a project that utilizes the circle au, sometimes it won't even open the project and have to terminate the program. (Running Ableton Live 7.010, Circle 1.03 on a Mac Pro dual quad core 2.8ghz, 6gb Ram, M Audio Firewire 410)

This is frustrating, but the synth is one of the best things ever and I can't wait to see what you guys have in store down the road! Hammer out them bugs! Thank you so much for the wavetable editor, totally awesome.

  4. Hi Shamburglar,

This problem has come up already and we are looking into. A work around is to click on any area of the screen while it is loading Circle. Let me know if this is works ok for you as a short term solution.

Ok so after many days of dealing with this bug, I can say it is inconsistent whether the clicking around the screen workaround will work. Sometimes the projects load no problem, other times they hang and ableton becomes completely unresponsive and occasionally the interface in ableton actually works but with no visual feedback and you can't switch between arrangement and session view. This has even occurred with a simple test project that contained one empty audio track and one single midi track with just the circle plugin running in it.

  6. Hi Shamburglar,

We are looking into this problem at the moment and while the work around is not ideal, we are confident to have a fix soon.

    Ableton GUI display workaround:

Hit spacebar to play...audio from the track will start playing.
Hit apple Q to close Live. At this point Live will display the 'are you sure' message to cancel or confirm.
I hit Cancel and the screen will finally display midi/units and will work just fine after that.

Just a quick update on this bug, after much frustration clicking around the screen and then hitting apple q to close live, with sometimes it not registering changes and therefore just actually quitting out without giving the option to cancel... I've discovered something that works 100% of the time...

Load project... nothing happpens... click play button to make sure project is fully loaded... go to insert audio or midi track... then apple q... and then cancel the quit.

  8. Hi Shamburglar,

We're working having a fix that avoids the need for the work around. I'll try the work around you posted now...

    Ableton 6:
I have this same problem. If there is a note right to the end of the midi piano-roll, that note will be sustain when it comes back around to loop over again. It's frustrating but a quick fix is to turn off quantizing and cut the note back a hair so it doesnt hit the end of the piano-roll.
