Circle Roadmap

(15 posts)

  1. Hi,

This thread is an outline for what we have planned for Circle over the next few months, in the form of updates.

    1) Import of user wavetables 1.0.3
We have started beta testing this feature (28/7) and are planning to release once we have it working ok (1.0.3).

    2) Fix for bug when using Circle on mono track in logic. Planned release Friday, 29th October.

    3) OSC Send and OSC Windows Support. 1.0.5
We are working on this continuously and will be included in 1.0.5

    3) New Modules 1.0.6
We have a research partnership with Maynooth College here in Ireland, who have some great experience with audio and synthesis.
Currently they are putting together an interesting and unique FM oscillator ( you can read the research paper here: http://dafx.labri.fr/main/papers/p021.pdf ), along with an analog modelled delay line which will be used for a new chorus and analog echo effects.

    4) Bug fixes are continuos and will be included in all updates.

    hi Gavin,

thanks a lot for sharing your plans with us!!! not a lot companies are doing this.
the road looks really promising! very curios how the FM oscillator sounds.

    some thoughts:
for me personally the full [99%] OSC control would make it to the perfect live-tool.
-- especially to turn a single module on and off by OSC.
-- and to choose a wavetable by OSC.

I am looking very much forward and hope I can join the next beta circle.
    thanks and best wishes,

    bd

    Hello GavinFAW,

can you explain me what are user wavetables? Are wavetables the same like wave files?

    Thanks

  4. Hi guys,

Bdhm, the FM oscillator sounds very cool, can do analog sounds very well but has a different character to current emulations. I'm also sure its open to parameter abuse for interesting new sounds.

Raw-beatz, the user wavetables is the ability to change wave files into Circle format wavetables and then import them into Circle, which is currently in beta.

We have released the beta and it seems to be quite out there at the moment due to it being summer time, so we're extending the testing time.
I'll add both of you to the list, you'll get an email with the download links to the beta.

    Hey Gavin!
I just thought to drop a message that I totally love the idea of Circle. Simple and efficient workflow, decent sound, with a clear intuitive GUI. The interface design would even work for a fully modular beast without confusing people. I also like how the visual feedback applies to the different modules.
The company and synth feels OK; so much potential, but it seems that this forum is somewhat 'deserted'... :S
Any new information about future plans?

And by the way, if you need a beta tester, I'd gladly help. Currently I don't have the space for my music hardware, so I have that free time to focus on virtual synth testing and debugging. I'm already a tester of Synthmaster2 since it's earlier versions, so I have some experience about beta testing. Drop me a message if interested!
    Cheers, David ;)
