Hi,

This thread is an outline for what we have planned for Circle over the next few months, in the form of updates.

1) Import of user wavetables 1.0.3
We have started beta testing this feature (28/7) and are planning to release once we have it working ok (1.0.3).

2) Fix for bug when using Circle on mono track in logic. Planned release Friday, 29th October.

3) OSC Send and OSC Windows Support. 1.0.5
We are working on this continuously and will be included in 1.0.5

3) New Modules 1.0.6
We have a research partnership with Maynooth College here in Ireland, who have some great experience with audio and synthesis.
Currently they are putting together an interesting and unique FM oscillator ( you can read the research paper here: http://dafx.labri.fr/main/papers/p021.pdf ), along with an analog modelled delay line which will be used for a new chorus and analog echo effects.

4) Bug fixes are continuos and will be included in all updates.

I'm running a Macbook Pro, 10.5.7, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM. I'm experiencing massive problems when running the RTAS version within Pro Tools (version 8.0cs3). It doesn't matter if I dedicate only one or both cores of my processor in the playback engine - I always run into buffer errors during playback / record (DAE error -9127 / -9128, which are CPU related buffer errors). This occurs even on a simple session with only Circle loaded.

The standalone version works without error - but therein lies the problem. I can't use Circle without Pro Tools as a host in my workflow. I noticed you only list support for Core Duo processors - is there an ongoing issue with Core 2 Duo machines?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I've recently discovered Circle and instantly liked the Interface and especially the fact that it understands OSC-Messages. I'm working with a very MAX/MSP-heavy setup and also have some other programs that are all talking to each other via OSC, so i thought Circle would be a great addition to my setup.

So i downloaded the demo and tried building up a few sounds. I quite liked the workflow - i'm already sold on that point. BUT: I can't get Circle to understand or send any OSC-messages.

What I've done:
I've set the OUT IP to 127.0.0.1 and the OUT-Port to 5002, the IN-Port to 5001 and clicked "connect" (which i believe starts the osc-server).
I then started a sketch in processing that simply sends a few osc-messages to 127.0.0.1 5001. The sketch also listens on port 5002 and prints out everything it recieves. I'm 100% positive that the sketch is working since i've tested it with MAX and it worked like a charm.

So since i'm not recieving any messages on port 5002 if i turn the knobs in circle and i also can't get circle to react to my messages i came to the conclusion that i have to be doing something fundamentally wrong. Since the manual wasn't very informative on that regard, i thought i'd just ask on the forums. So here are my questions (it's about time ;) ):
Is there something i need to configure first in order for circle to talk osc? or is this feature disabled in demo-mode?
If the answer to both questions is no: Any idea what else i could try to get it to work?
Any help would be appreciated.

btw: I'm running Windows 7

cheers,
Mirko

Hello,

I had some trouble finding information about this here in the forums...

I run Circle on Windows XP. I'm attempting to use a Monome to interact with Circle via OSC. The Monome is equipped with an accelerometer and I figured out how to assign its tilt function with the OSC address of various functions. It's also very easy to use Circle with the Monome via MidiYoke.

HOWEVER. I noticed that the OS X version of Circle only requires the port number to connect. 5123 is always the port. With Windows XP though... it asks me for an OSC IP address and an OSC out port number. I've tried various numbers and ip's and can't seem to connect to actually control the tilt functions of the Monome!

Hope this makes sense to someone out there. I really appreciate the help. I've also looked through Circle's supplied documentation and it seems to contain only an explanation for how to use this function with OS X. Help!!

Collides on "Noob question about Circle and Lemur"

I'm brand new to the Lemur and OSC, so bear with me. I can't get the Lemur to send control to Circle, however I do have some connection because any changes I make in Circle reflect on the Lemur template. So, basically I'm getting OSC out of Circle to the Lemur, but not from the Lemur to Circle.

I have it setup like this presently...

On the Lemur:

OSC Target 0 has the IP Address set to 169.254.21.119, Port is 8000

In Circle:

OSC Out IP = 169.254.21.119
OSC Out Port = 8000
OSC In Port = 8000

Am I supposed to set two different OSC targets for the in and out?? Also, the IP address I'm using is the same IP that is listed for the Lemur in the TCP/IP Setup tab.

I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.3. I've tried in both standalone mode and through Ableton with the same results. I'm sure it is something simple that I'm missing.

Thanks a lot!

I have experienced problems with Live when it comes to saving own presets.
Every time I want to enter a new preset name and start typing it Live will crash.
Im using OSX 10.5.9 with a MacBook Pro 2,66 GHz. It doesn't seem to have anything
to do with any other parts of my audio equipment (Fireface 400) since I also see
Live crash when using it with built-in audio.

Hi,
I bought Circle 3 weeks ago. It's great!
Actually it is installed on my PC (AMD Sempron 2 GHz, 2GB of ram and Windows XP Pro SP2): it's works fine but my cpu works a lot.
Probably I'll change PC with the following configuration:
- AMD Phenom X4 (3.2GHz)
- At least 8 GB of ram
- Windows 7 (64 bit version)

So now that's my questions:
1) Circle works on Windows 7 64 bit architecture?
2) I just used my activation-code on my current system. What I have to do to manage my licence from my current PC to the newer one?

Thanks

First up I would like to say big up to FAW as i have just road tested 11 synths before making a decision on a purchase including Rob Papen, NI, Sylenth, FAB Filter and a few others and Circle is amazing. I'm pretty new to synthesis and actually feel like i'm learning about sound design just by using circle!

My question is.....I'm currently running Logic 8 on Tiger 10.4.11 and now have the funds to purchase Circle (plus already using a tweaked preset in a track) but I know for definate that i will be purchasing Leopard 10.5 by feb 2010 and then doing a clean install of my OS including updating to logic 9. I have seen a few other threads on here where people have changed Computers and then had trouble re-activating. I don't really want to wait til i upgrade my system to buy Circle but am a bit worried that it won't be a clean transgression between systems especially if i have all my presets and settings saved on my old system.

Has anyone gone thro this process? or can someone shed some light on how ammicable a complete systems upgrade with re-activation will be?

I don't know what else to do to get someone to address my issue, aside from shame you into it. You need to learn to have a much better dialog with your customers if you want to keep them. So far, I've both sent in a support ticket AND posted in the Circle forum about an issue, and haven't heard ANY response from you for FOUR MONTHS. I've been decent about it, let you have your time - I've worked for a software company and know how much pressure there is to meet deadlines, fix bugs, etc. - but your lack of interest in your customers' problems is inexcusable.

Now, I see someone else having similar issues with your support (the "Any Help guys" post in this forum), and I begin to form a disturbing picture of your company. Did I buy something that will ever work? Seriously guys, you're not doing right by me, and you need to fix that. I don't care if you don't have a working fix of my issue, or even if you can't duplicate the behavior - you need to COMMUNICATE with us.

If nothing else, give me a copy of SHARK trace and any other bug hunting software you use and I'll run it myself and send you the report. I'm offering to do YOUR job for you because I CANNOT use YOUR software and it seems, so far, like the only probable solution. Do you see an issue with that?

Cheers,

I created 2 presets on my computer in logic 9, circle 1.06 and then modified them on a different computer running logic 8, circle 1.06 and resaved them. Now im trying to reload the modified presets on my logic 9 computer and they wont load. The name of the preset comes up but the parameter, and, therefore the sound, doesnt change from the previous preset. I tried loading them on a fresh instance of circle as well as renaming them and trying them on my old copy of logic 8 with no luck. Anyone have any advice?

Hi -
is active development being done on Circle?
I've several new projects i'm working on, and currently and in the past, circle has been an unpredictable crashy sort of monster and I don't want to invest too much time in using it for sound design if it's going to continue doing so.

Problematic occurrences have included patches sounding completely different after saving and reloading files and causing random program crashes whilst manipulating or loading new patches.
This is in all the latest versions of ableton live (8, 7, 6)

I recently Had a logic board failure on my mac pro. When it was replaced the computer required re-activation but i cannot do this as i'm already registered. I've tried contacting you through support with no reply.
Can you Reset my Activation so i can re-authorise?
When i use the website it returns the instruction : Serial Already Registered.

I like Circle sound sooo much. But I have a problem with bottom panel.

In Logic 8.0.2(OS X 10.4.11), circle's botom panel doesn't work in some case.
I can play and edit it but cannot open bottom panel.
It seems to be no reason why circle's going to be wrong, I think.
Is there some fix??

I have installed the demo and get the following error message if I try to use the options menu to get the audio working with my Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 sound card:

Unknown error: -2004287473

It seems to accept the built-in motherboard soundcard, but I get the same error if I choose the Primary Sound Driver

Any help gratefully recieved as I would like to buy, but only if it will work with my soundcard!

If the original owner of Circle wants to sell it, then what are the necessary steps that must be taken care of by the seller as well as by the buyer? Please advise. Thanks.
