Hi Gavin,

what went wrong? I definitely don't have this folder on my HD. I saved my personal folder prior to the Time Machine backup on a seperate Harddrive and did not find it there. The folder link you posted is also not present in my current library structure (neither the Macintosh HD nor the personal one) despite all regular presets showing up within the Circle AU.

Hi KillaNurtz

You can actually do this already, if you create a waveform and import it into the wavetable oscillator and set the oscillator to "sub" it will give you the same behavior as a custom lfo.

Hi guys,

While never ideal, as Jordan pointed out the 1.0.7 RTAS OSX plug-in is currently having the issues as described. The main problem is that I have been unable to recreate the problems on the test systems here. For the moment if you are experiencing these problems, please down grade to version 1.0.6 available from the link here:

Wow, it has been a full year since I originally started this thread. Support has again seemed to drop off; however, FWIW, Gavin has provided a work-around for Snow Leopard users. According to another customer, version 1.0.6 has been working. I can confirm that on my system (Macbook Pro 2.66 GHz, 10.6.3) I have been running this version and it appears stable.

This is not a solution, but a workaround that is at least keeping me up and running. I would like to see an official release that supports my processor and version of OS X. Until then, I suggest running 1.0.6:

http://futureaudioworkshop.com/downloads/download.php?file=Circle-1.0.6-setup.dmg

Gavin, please let your customers know that you're still working on a supported update. You had started a good trend of keeping us in the loop, and now that seems to have dropped off. I hope you continue to develop your awesome software.

Another thing: The manual says that the number of the IN-port will be written on the connect-button once circle connected to the port. It does not do that.

Also: I've already tried running circle as administrator and in compatibility-mode (as winXP). I've tried it in VST- and in standalone-mode. Nothing helped ;(

Hi,

I've recently discovered Circle and instantly liked the Interface and especially the fact that it understands OSC-Messages. I'm working with a very MAX/MSP-heavy setup and also have some other programs that are all talking to each other via OSC, so i thought Circle would be a great addition to my setup.

So i downloaded the demo and tried building up a few sounds. I quite liked the workflow - i'm already sold on that point. BUT: I can't get Circle to understand or send any OSC-messages.

What I've done:
I've set the OUT IP to 127.0.0.1 and the OUT-Port to 5002, the IN-Port to 5001 and clicked "connect" (which i believe starts the osc-server).
I then started a sketch in processing that simply sends a few osc-messages to 127.0.0.1 5001. The sketch also listens on port 5002 and prints out everything it recieves. I'm 100% positive that the sketch is working since i've tested it with MAX and it worked like a charm.

So since i'm not recieving any messages on port 5002 if i turn the knobs in circle and i also can't get circle to react to my messages i came to the conclusion that i have to be doing something fundamentally wrong. Since the manual wasn't very informative on that regard, i thought i'd just ask on the forums. So here are my questions (it's about time ;) ):
Is there something i need to configure first in order for circle to talk osc? or is this feature disabled in demo-mode?
If the answer to both questions is no: Any idea what else i could try to get it to work?
Any help would be appreciated.

btw: I'm running Windows 7

cheers,
Mirko

I have the same problem. In addition, when importing Ableton projects from my old system to 10.6.4.(backed up with time machine from 10.5.8) Circle fails to Load the appropriate presets. Took me ages to shape one of them, it's really sad that it seems to be lost now. Where are Circle presets (not the AU-Presets but the ones you store within the Circle preset list) exactly stored?

using monomeserial 2.1.2a polygome 0.98 (256)
(midi connection via midi yoke)

set up with two gs128 running as 256

trying the circle standalone, hope to use osc as in demo video

I can see the port that circle uses for in (5123) listening (using netstat). the
circle doc says the program acts a server. (though it implies mac only).

how does polygome see the circle osc? is the gome in the video modified?
is there some way to link the two osc servers?

@rawore

the gs128 is absolutely incredible! congrats on your order!

yes using monomeserial. i tried using my ip and the 127.0.0.1 from monomeserial as well. neither worked.

the question i asked was also asked by someone in the monome forums some time ago and was never answered. i've also watched the monome+faw polygome video from Stretta quite a few times. he just clicks "connect" and everything works perfectly! but like i said... with the mac... no ip or osc out port is needed.

so the Circle setup works, as I can hear the sound fine. I just can't seem to get the OSC connect function to work. i'm seriously hoping for an FAW Tech to answer this one...

let me know what you find though. thanks!

Hello,

I had some trouble finding information about this here in the forums...

I run Circle on Windows XP. I'm attempting to use a Monome to interact with Circle via OSC. The Monome is equipped with an accelerometer and I figured out how to assign its tilt function with the OSC address of various functions. It's also very easy to use Circle with the Monome via MidiYoke.

HOWEVER. I noticed that the OS X version of Circle only requires the port number to connect. 5123 is always the port. With Windows XP though... it asks me for an OSC IP address and an OSC out port number. I've tried various numbers and ip's and can't seem to connect to actually control the tilt functions of the Monome!

Hope this makes sense to someone out there. I really appreciate the help. I've also looked through Circle's supplied documentation and it seems to contain only an explanation for how to use this function with OS X. Help!!

I'm brand new to the Lemur and OSC, so bear with me. I can't get the Lemur to send control to Circle, however I do have some connection because any changes I make in Circle reflect on the Lemur template. So, basically I'm getting OSC out of Circle to the Lemur, but not from the Lemur to Circle.

I have it setup like this presently...

On the Lemur:

OSC Target 0 has the IP Address set to 169.254.21.119, Port is 8000

In Circle:

OSC Out IP = 169.254.21.119
OSC Out Port = 8000
OSC In Port = 8000

Am I supposed to set two different OSC targets for the in and out?? Also, the IP address I'm using is the same IP that is listed for the Lemur in the TCP/IP Setup tab.

I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.3. I've tried in both standalone mode and through Ableton with the same results. I'm sure it is something simple that I'm missing.

Thanks a lot!

"I would hope that modifying permissions manually is not something users are expected to do"

Not at all, it is a bug with the installer builder we are using that even if you set permissions in the application, they don't alway work.

Gavin.

I will leave it up to you guys to figure out exactly what causes the issue and fix the bug :)

I would hope that modifying permissions manually is not something users are expected to do? One would think that the installer should set all relevant permissions.

Just trying to help make this a more stable product! It really is a great sounding synth, so keep up the good work and fix those bugs!

Hi Uneaqs,

I have tested it again. It works fine when you first load the plug-in and Circle's window appears. But then if you close Circle's window and reopen it and hit backspace, it deletes Circle from the channel?

On the presets folder, can you change the permissions on the folder /Library/Application Support/Circle/Presets by ctrl-click selecting "Get Info" and scrolling down to "Sharing and Permissions". Under name make sure that admin and xxx (ME) are both set to read & write

Let me know how this goes.

On the new version notification, if you signed up to our mailing list then you will get notified. The other way is if you also purchased Circle online we retain your email for this purpose.

Gavin.

I cannot keep live from crashing by clicking on the interface as described. It doesn't matter where I click first, as soon as I hit the backspace key live crashes. Really annoying I can tell you. I've lost 2 different custom patches due to forgetting about this bug.

Incidentally, I also found out the hard way that you cannot save custom patches to the factory or circle 1,2,3 banks. It looks like its saved, but after you restart live its nowhere to be found. You can create a new bank and save it there, but I only found this out through trial and error.

Great sounding synth though! Here's hoping the bugs get fixed soon. Will owners be notified of new versions via email?

I have done some testing there.

What is happening is that if you open Circle's interface in Ableton Live via the "Spanner" icon and then click "Save As" it opens the "Save As" window as you would expect. If you then back space, Circle is removed from the channel. This is because Circle is out of focus and the backspace is trapped by Ableton as a delete from channel command. The problem though is that the "Save As" window is left behind and thus crashes Live.
To fix this we need to make sure all windows are deleted when the backspace is pressed.

To avoid the problem for the moment, you need to focus Circle first so that all the keyboard messages are trapped by Circle and not by Live. To do this simply click on any part of the interface.
